Severnside 3 - Under 15s 0

Once again, Wickwar took the field with only 9 players against a full strength Severnside team, who not only played with their full 11 players but used their 4/5 subs as well. In spite of playing against overwhelming odds, Wickwar once again played their hearts out, with everyone giving their best with outstanding displays by Lee in goal and Rob in defence. Wickwar conceded all three goals in the first 36 minutes (8th, 20th & 36th) but withstood all kinds of pressure, holding Severnside scoreless for the rest of the first half and all of the second half. When one considers the strength in numbers of the Severnside team as stated above, and Wickwar without at least 6 players, we were asking our players to perform an impossible task. Injuries and other commitments prevented some of our players but there is no doubt that we will have to strengthen the squad considerably for next season.
