In Wickwar's first run-out of the season, they produced a good solid all round team performance with all players contributing. An excellent footballing display was given with all players looking comfortable on the ball. Of the 8 goals Matt Jenkins scored 3, Rhys Belcher 1 (his first for the club), Sam Cotton 1 and Jake Hawkins 1 are a selection of the scorers. The boys adapted to the bigger pitch superbly well and will surely only improve on this performance as they start to get used to the extra space that a full size pitch offers. Although all 11 boys played well, special mention must go to Joe Sands and Harry Thompson who combined superbly well on the right flank and showed great energy, Charlie Poole in goal who as well as making a couple of good saves commanded his area all match and Rob Williams who showed great defensive qualities and made Charlie's evening quieter than it might have been. There were a number of boys unavailable for this match and yet Wanderers still produced a performance like this, all in all a very encouraging evening.
Well done to all boys, you have set yourself a standard to keep up to!
