Remember Me

Cam Everside 5 - U11s 1

A late Joe Sands goal was scant consolation for a hard fought Wanderers’ performance.  The boys held their own against one of the league’s top sides until a fluke effort looped over Jake Kirkham and into the net.  Goal wise it was then one way traffic and even though the in-form Kirkham kept the score down, Everside knocked in four additional good goals.

A battling performance in the truest sense and epitomised by debutant, Ferdinand De-Carvalho, who put in a terrific display equally matching the physical approach deployed by a number of the Everside boys.

Everside’s physical element did prove costly to Wanderers as Jack Knowler, Declan McGettegan and Joe Sands all sustained injury necessitating periods on the sidelines.

Josh Werreitt played whilst ill and, clearly suffering, also needed to come off toward the end.  Manager, Shaun Cox, only had one substitute to call upon and all credit to Sands who returned to the field for the last few minutes with a badly swollen ankle.  A return rewarded with a last kick of the game tap-in created by Ellis Cox and Jake Hawkins.

Everside bestowed their ‘Man of the Match’ title to Jack Knowler, but manager Cox’s view was that both Knowler and De-Carvalho deserved it equally.

Let’s hope everyone is fit for Wednesday night’s equally tough test against Golden Valley Rangers.
