The First League game of the season saw the first team travel to Longford.

Wickwar gave debuts to new signings Kerien Austin, Ben Spiers and George Walker and looked like winning straight from the off. The team started to settle quickly and grew in confidence.

With 20 minutes gone Wickwar took the lead, after good work on the wing from Walker his cross was blocked and went for a corner. Walker whipped the corner in and Kerien leapt like a salmon to head in from 6 yards.

Within 5 minutes it should of been two. For some reason, Wickwar were awarded a penalty. Some say Dave Hall was pushed by the keeper, some say there was a handball, all we know is...Kerien should not be allowed to take penalties. Despite confidently stepping up to take it, he fired wide of the keepers right and as a result is now wearing a skirt and hat.

The team began to sit back and again Longford started to press, and after a crunching challenge from Hobbsy his troubled metatarsal gave way and had to replaced by Dave Hall. Hall then treid his hardest to make up for Wickwar's phantom penalty by 'fairly' challenging Longford striker after some interesting communication with keeper Spiers.

Half time saw Jack Addle come on for the injured Walker. Addle was straight into the action and started to push on down the right.

It didnt take long for the second to come, Great work down the right again from Addle saw him whip in an inch perfect cross and Minter finished in emphatic style with a right footed volley.

The third was not far off, another set peice from Addle saw Stu bundle the ball into the back of net using either his knee or his foot.

A solid display from the back 4 in the second half made sure the game ended without drama.
