Wickwar turned up for this game, as the rain poured down at the Playing Fields, taking the game straight to St. Nicks from the start. They kept the ball for the majority of the first 10 minutes playing some excellent football and with that, Ben Hemmings broke down the left side of the pitch to provide a great ball into the box that was turned in the net by one of the St. Nick's defenders. Wickwar then kept control of the game as Rob Brett and Phil Whittaker dealt with anything that came their way at the heart of the Wickwar defence. As substitutions were made 15 minutes into the match with new boy Harry Lear and Curtis Walker coming on, they introduced some more energy into an already strong Wickwar attack, with that Harry was fouled on the edge of box and James Gilvear converted the free-kick which found its way through the net past everyone. Wickwar kept hold of the game as birthday boy Ben Cross was creating some attacking opportunities with some lovely long balls over the top of the St. Nick's defence and Jake Wall was battling in the heart of the midfield as Jack Dowler and Ben Hemmings pulled the strings. Just before half time Harry Lear found himself running onto a lovely ball and took it round the keeper to make it 3-0 and end a brilliant passing move. At half time Mitchell Smith and Lewis Jackson came back on for Wickwar who looked in complete control of the game and both had a part to play in Wickwar's 4th goal which was chipped over the keeper by Harry Lear to grab his 2nd on his fantastic debut for the club. Quickly after,Wickwar then grabbed a 5th as James Gilvear's shot took a huge deflection which resulted in the 2nd own goal scored by St.Nicks. Wickwar then kept pressing and were rewarded with their 3rd goal in 10 minutes as Curtis Walker found himself running on to another passing move to slot home. St. Nicks then managed to creep their way back into the game as Wickwar took their foot of the gas, but some good goalkeeping from James Watkins, some good defending from the midfield and defence - especially Shaun Perrett at left-back prevented them from scoring. With 20 minutes to go, Wickwar had another free-kick on the edge of the area which Ben Hemmings then cleverly finished sending the wall and keeper the wrong way. The game then became more even with both sides having possession of the ball, but Wickwar were at a completely different level today and controlled the match throughout.

All of the boys were so fantastic, that managers John Wall and Alex Lumsden couldn't decide who to pick as their Man of The Match!

Thank you to St.Nicks for turning up and giving us a game, but well done to a wonderful Wickwar, on a wonderful performance.
