The 1st team's unbeaten run (of one) came to crashing end on Saturday going down 3-2 to Stonehouse.
With Etherington and Banister making their first starts of the year and a debut for Timoney we looked to have a strong team and were full of confidence.
Straight from the off we dominated the game, the referee's assistant was full of praise for how well we controlled the ball in the centre of the park. Some superb interplay between Mckean, Gadge and Mackie was really starting to create gaps in the defence.
Somehow, we then went 1-0 down.
As the second half started we were once again on top and continued to threaten to score. Whatley came on for the injured Bansiter at half time with Austin moving to the left.
Then, somehow, we went 2-0 down.
Just as heads started to drop, Whatley controlled a pass on his chest and played a delicate ball through to Mackie who finished in emphatic style to make it 2-1.
Then, in bizarre fashion it was 3-1. A series of errors allowed their No. 10 in to finish off a well created move.
A change in formation was required and we moved to a 4-4-2.
With time running out, Addle whipped in a dangerous cross and an attempted clearance ended up in the back of the net. 3-2.
Evans was thrown upfront alongside Austin and Whatley but Wickwar just couldn't find that elusive equaliser.
The game finished 3-2 to Stonehouse. Somehow.
