Dave started his Wickwar career back in the late 70s and has played in most positions over the years ending his career as a dependable centre half.  There is a rumour that many years ago Dave was a fine ball player and midfield playmaker.  This is hard to believe as he is well renowned in the club for his ability to kick a ball further off the pitch than anyone else on the planet.  Dave is also well known for retiring having unsuccessfully retired 3 seasons on the trot.  Eventually he was dropped to ensure he finally stopped playing.

Dave’s major hobbies these days are golfing, watching Bristol City and lager.  He is very enthusiastic about all his hobbies but it is lager at which he really excels, often managing up to 20 pints over the course of a Saturday.

Comments from the Sideline

In his day John was a quality player and rumour has it that he could have played at a much higher level than he ever did. Clearly the more talented of the Windle brothers, John has a sweet left foot and a good turn of pace which he still shows when he hears bar staff calling last orders. John actually made a playing comeback a couple of years ago and still looked the part although his fitness was not terribly good!!

These days John spends his saturdays either golfing or watching Bristol City both of which inevitably end in him staggering home home having consumed far more alcohol than his tiny frame can handle!! Johnny baby, we salute you!!
