A close and competitive game was played out between two evenly matched sides. The home-side had more of the possession in the first half, although it’s fair to say the visitors had more of and the better of the chances.
Wickwar took the lead after a free kick from the left was swept in to the top corner by Scott Wooder. The home-side equalised after an excellent through ball and some nifty work by the striker in beating the Wickwar full-back to byline, before cutting the ball back and finishing from a tight angle.
Second half was more open and very end to end, with the home-team showing their obvious fitness advantage. Another long distance free kick beat the Wickwar keeper to give the home-team an early 2-1 lead at the start of the second half. After 70 minutes, as the game became more stretched Wickwar broke down the right hand side and Rory Thomas swept an excellent ball into the box which Dave Parslow duly headed home.
Both teams had more chances and the game could’ve gone either way, but ultimately a 2-2 draw was played out.
