Wickwar 5 -1 Old Richians Reserves

Date: 10th August 2016

Wickwar got their first win of the season with a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Old Richians.

Reverting to a 4-3-3 formation, Wickwar fielded their strongest side of the season with many players returning from injuries/holidays/cricket etc.

The home side started brighter with a number of guilt edge chances falling to Max Minter, David Parslow and Mike Abbott early on in the contest. Well taken goals from Tom Etherington and Max Minter gave Wickwar a comfortable 2-0 lead, but some sloppy defending and mis-communication allowed the visitors to pull one back just before half-time with a clever finish.

The home-team came out firing for the second and for the first 15 minutes some of the football was unplayable. Dave Parslow finished well from a Scott Wooder corner and Mike Abbott scored the goal of the game with a superb finish from a tight angle to make it 4-1. A late goal from substitute Ben Stiles rounded off the scoring.
